Pep Guardiola has stated that he requires more time to determine his future at Manchester City as his contract enters its final months.
Currently, Guardiola is under contract until the end of the season, and he has expressed a desire to lead the team into the Club World Cup scheduled for the summer.
However, uncertainty looms beyond this point, with no decision yet made on whether he will extend his deal for a potential tenth year at the Etihad Stadium.
While many expect this could be Guardiola’s final season in charge, the club remains hopeful of retaining him, and the players have shown no signs of fatigue under a coach who has led them to an unbeaten start after 11 games this season.
A decision on his future is anticipated in the coming months, but for now, the Catalan insists he has yet to make up his mind.
“Let’s see on my future,” he told Italian TV show Che Tempo Che Fa.
“I still need to reflect and decide what I want to do.”
If Pep Guardiola decides to stay, next season will mark the first time in ten years that he will work with a new sporting director, following the confirmation of his close friend Txiki Begiristain’s departure from Manchester City.
Hugo Viana will take over in the summer after a transition period in which both men will collaborate.
Guardiola’s working relationship with Begiristain has been a cornerstone of City’s success, similar to their partnership at Barcelona.
However, the decision regarding the sporting director has not played a decisive role in influencing the manager’s decision about his future.
