Chelsea have received a significant boost with the news that captain Reece James has returned to full training.
The right-back has yet to make a competitive appearance under new boss Enzo Maresca after suffering a hamstring injury in August during pre-season.
James, who was suspended for the first four matches of this season due to a red card received in the penultimate game of the previous campaign, has been diligently working to regain full fitness.
Chelsea have confirmed that he has now returned to “team training,” and the 24-year-old is eager to put his injury struggles behind him.
Last season, Reece James started only five Premier League games and underwent surgery in December to address a lingering hamstring issue.
Despite these setbacks, he featured regularly under Maresca during pre-season and expressed excitement about working with the new manager.
“There is a lot of adjustments to make to the new system,” he said in the summer.
“Whenever a new manager comes in, there’s a lot to take on board, but we are excited and I can’t wait to get started.
“The last 16 months have been frustrating, whether that be suspension or injury, but I’m really excited, I feel like I’m in a good place for this season and I cannot wait to get playing and find my rhythm again.”
