Nottingham Forest owner Evangelos Marinakis banned from stadiums for five matches for ‘improper conduct
Marinakis had been accused of 'improper behaviour in the tunnel' following Fulham's 1-0 win at City Ground on September 28
Nottingham Forest owner Evangelos Marinakis has received a five-match stadium ban from the FA following a misconduct charge related to last month’s match against Fulham.
This development comes shortly after Forest manager Nuno Espirito Santo was also handed a three-match ban for his conduct during his team’s 2-2 draw with Brighton.
Marinakis was accused of “improper behaviour in the tunnel” after Fulham’s 1-0 victory at the City Ground on September 28, a win secured by a penalty from Raul Jimenez.
The penalty was awarded after referee Josh Smith was advised by VAR to consult the pitchside monitor.
An FA statement on Evangelos Marinakis read: “It was alleged that his behaviour around the tunnel area after the final whistle was improper.
“He denied this charge, but it was found proven by the independent Regulatory Commission, and a five-match stadium/ground suspension has been imposed.
“The independent Regulatory Commission’s written reasons for its decisions will be published in due course.”
The ban coincides with the announcement that manager Nuno has received a three-match suspension due to his behavior during the heated 2-2 draw against Brighton last month, a match that also saw Forest midfielder Morgan Gibbs-White and Brighton manager Fabian Hurzeler receive red cards.
An FA statement read: “It was alleged that the Nottingham Forest head coach acted in an improper manner and/or used abusive and/or insulting words towards a match official.
“The Nottingham Forest midfielder allegedly acted in an improper manner and/or used abusive and/or insulting words towards the fourth official after being sent off.
“It was alleged that the Brighton & Hove Albion manager acted in an improper manner.
“Nuno Espirito Santo, Morgan Gibbs-White and Fabian Hurzeler admitted to their respective charges.
“The independent Regulatory Commission imposed a two-match touchline suspension and £55,000 fine on the Nottingham Forest head coach, which activated a further one-match touchline ban that had been suspended, as well as a one-match suspension and £20,000 fine on the Nottingham Forest midfielder.
“The Brighton & Hove Albion manager was fined £8,000 after accepting the standard penalty.”
