Manu Akanji may add to Manchester City’s growing injury list as he returns from the international break with fitness concerns ahead of Wolves clash.
Pep Guardiola is anxiously monitoring the condition of his defender, along with Brazilian players Ederson and Savinho, who were in action on Wednesday morning for their national team.
Furthermore, the manager does not anticipate any of the four sidelined players returning to action on Sunday.
“I don’t think so,” Guardiola said.
“They are not ready.
“They are training, they are in the last part.
“Yesterday Nathan [Ake] did his first training with the team.
“Maybe he can travel but he is not ready to start.
“Today was a day off so we will see how they feel.”
Nathan Ake has not featured since suffering a hamstring injury during the September international break, while Kevin De Bruyne picked up a thigh injury in the Champions League match against Inter shortly afterward and has missed the last five games.
Oscar Bobb remains sidelined with a leg fracture sustained just before the start of the Premier League season, and Rodri is out for the remainder of the campaign after tearing his anterior cruciate ligament against Arsenal last month.
Manchester City will visit a Wolves side currently struggling at the bottom of the table, but Pep Guardiola remains cautious, having reviewed footage of Gary O’Neil’s team this season.
“They have less points than they deserve,” Guardiola added.
“It has always been tough with Wolves since Nuno was the manager.
“This will not be an exception.”
