Manchester United given big boost as Leny Yoro returns to training
Leny Yoro joined United in the summer but suffered a foot injury during pre-season
Manchester United have been given a significant boost with the return of summer signing Leny Yoro to training following a foot operation.
The 18-year-old is back on the grass at Carrington after suffering an injury over the summer, as the club announced on Monday.
Yoro, who joined from Lille in July for £52million, is currently engaged in individual training at the club’s facilities and is also working hard in the gym.
Manchester United secured the highly-rated teenager’s signature after outbidding Real Madrid.
However, he has yet to make his first-team debut due to the injury that necessitated surgery.
While the club emphasizes that there is still “plenty of work to do” before Yoro makes his debut for the Red Devils, his return to training marks a positive step forward.
A club statement reads: “There is plenty of work still to do for the centre-back and he will begin the transition to group training when he is ready.
“A competitive debut for the Reds is not imminent, but it’s really positive to see our summer signing reach this stage of his recovery.
“The rest of United’s squad is preparing for Thursday’s Europa League match against Fenerbahce in Turkey.
“Make sure you return to our platforms on Tuesday and Wednesday for further access to the group’s training sessions at Carrington.”
Last season, the defender made 44 appearances in all competitions for Lille, scoring three goals and earning a spot in the Ligue 1 Team of the Year for 2023-24, attracting interest from clubs worldwide.
Ultimately, United secured his services, signing him to a contract that runs until 2029.
As Yoro continues his rehabilitation, his teammates are set to face Fenerbahce in the Europa League on Thursday.
The match will have added intrigue, as former United manager Jose Mourinho now leads the Turkish giants.
