Former Liverpool head coach Arne Slot is reportedly in talks to become the next manager of the Netherlands national team.
The 47-year-old has been out of work since being dismissed by the club on May 30, just 12 months after guiding the Reds to the Premier League title.
A disappointing second season at Anfield, in which Liverpool lost 20 matches in all competitions, ultimately cost him his job.
Arne Slot has been enjoying a summer break with his family since leaving Merseyside, while early links with Fulham following Marco Silva’s departure quickly faded.
According to Sky Germany, the former Feyenoord manager is now in negotiations to replace Ronald Koeman as Netherlands head coach after the Oranje were eliminated by Morocco on penalties in the World Cup round of 32.
Arne Slot joined Liverpool in 2024 on a three-year contract as Jurgen Klopp’s successor and enjoyed a remarkable debut campaign, leading the club to a record-equalling 20th league title with four games to spare.
However, a difficult second season, coupled with the emotional impact of Diogo Jota’s passing in July 2025, saw performances decline.
Liverpool finished fifth in the Premier League to secure Champions League qualification, and following an end-of-season review, sporting director Richard Hughes opted to part ways with Slot. He was replaced by Andoni Iraola on a two-year contract.
If appointed, Arne Slot would become the second former Liverpool manager to take charge of his national team, with Klopp also reportedly in talks to replace Julian Nagelsmann as Germany head coach following their World Cup exit.
