Liverpool manager Arne Slot has provided injury updates on Trent Alexander-Arnold and Tyler Morton ahead of the Reds’ upcoming fixtures.
Alexander-Arnold was forced off in the second half of last weekend’s Premier League win over AFC Bournemouth and subsequently missed Thursday night’s Carabao Cup victory against Tottenham Hotspur.
Sunday’s Emirates FA Cup clash with Plymouth Argyle will also come too soon for the right-back, who will continue to be assessed ahead of next Wednesday’s Merseyside derby against Everton.
“No, I don’t think so yet. That’s going to be too early for him,” Slot replied at his pre-match press conference when asked if Alexander-Arnold could be involved this weekend.
“Difficult to say [about the derby].
“Like I said before, it’s not going to take months and not even weeks but that’s only three days after the Plymouth Argyle game, so let’s wait and see if he is available.
“We also have to look at the long term, of course we don’t want to take any risks with so many games afterwards coming up. But if he’s fit then of course we will use him.”
The Reds’ head coach also confirmed that midfielder Tyler Morton has suffered a shoulder injury that will keep him sidelined for several weeks, possibly longer.
He added: “Morton is out with an injury for a while, so that means he was maybe our sixth midfielder and James is taking that position now, so it’s him doing well and the injury to Morton.
“Morton injury…am I allowed to say? It’s his shoulder. Four week or longer.”
