Arsenal boss Mikel Arteta provides worrying injury update on Gabriel Jesus

Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta faces a major headache after forward Gabriel Jesus was stretchered off during Sunday’s FA Cup defeat to Manchester United.

The Brazilian striker started the match but was forced off before the 40-minute mark after sustaining what appeared to be a serious knee injury. Jesus, visibly in agony, was immediately replaced by Raheem Sterling, raising concerns about the severity of the issue.

Speaking after the game, Arteta did little to ease fears over the injury. While he refrained from providing specific details, his comments suggested that the outlook might not be positive.

The Arsenal boss said: “Big worry, that’s my feeling. He had to come off with a stretcher.

“The impact, the feeling that he had.”

Adding in an interview with the BBC, he said: “No update but it’s not looking good.

“He was in quite a lot of pain, he had to come off on a stretcher and he’s not looking good.”

Jesus has been a crucial figure in Arsenal’s attack this season, with his movement, work rate, and goal contributions playing a significant role in the Gunners’ campaigns across all competitions.

Losing him for an extended period would be a significant blow to Arteta’s plans.

Arsenal will now await the results of further assessments to determine the full extent of the injury.

With crucial fixtures on the horizon, Arteta may be forced to reconsider his attacking options in the weeks ahead.
