Arsenal are reportedly in “ongoing communication” with Bayern Munich winger Kingsley Coman as the summer transfer window approaches, according to reports from Germany.
The Gunners are eager to bolster their attacking options, with a particular focus on securing a striker.
They remain heavily linked with Viktor Gyokeres, Victor Osimhen, and Benjamin Sesko.
However, it will take more than just one signing to give them the necessary depth to challenge for the Premier League title next season.
Arsenal’s attacking depth has been exposed during the 2024/25 season, particularly after major injuries to Bukayo Saka, Gabriel Jesus, and Kai Havertz.
There are also lingering questions about whether players like Gabriel Martinelli and Leandro Trossard can consistently perform at the level expected of regular starters at a club with such high aspirations.
Coman has recently emerged as a potential target, with both Liverpool and Tottenham Hotspur also linked to the 28-year-old.
However, according to Sky Germany, progress has been made on Arsenal’s interest, and contact has been established between the club and Coman’s camp.
The Gunners are reportedly aware of rival interest from the Saudi Pro League, which Coman finds “very appealing.”
From Bayern Munich’s perspective, Coman is expected to be replaced, and they are likely to recruit a new winger.
Additionally, the Bavarian giants are working on securing a new contract for Leroy Sané, although the terms would reportedly see him earn a lower base salary with a higher proportion of performance-related bonuses.
Coman has spent the majority of his career at Bayern Munich after stints with Paris Saint-Germain and Juventus early on.
He famously scored the winning goal in the 2020 Champions League final against PSG, but this season has struggled to secure a regular spot in the starting lineup, often being edged out by Serge Gnabry.
Primarily a left-winger, Coman would face direct competition with Martinelli and Trossard should he make the move to north London in the coming months.
