Arsenal target Benjamin Sesko set to cost nearly £70m this summer

Arsenal will be expected to pay close to £70m for Benjamin Sesko if they want to sign the forward this summer.

Sky Germany reports that Arsenal’s new sporting director, Andrea Berta, recently held a “secret meeting” in London with RB Leipzig’s counterpart Marcel Schafer to discuss a potential deal for Benjamin Sesko.

Sesko’s release clause is variable, based on appearances and goals, and could reach as high as £69million (€82million).

The two sides reportedly discussed payment terms and structures for the Slovenia striker’s possible transfer.

However, Sesko is not Arsenal’s only striker target. Sporting’s Viktor Gyokeres and others remain under consideration as well.

Arsenal have held a long-term interest in Sesko.

Sky Sports News earlier disclosed that the club were seriously considering a move, but Sesko’s agent ruled it out due to a gentleman’s agreement with Leipzig for the player to stay at least until this summer.

The Gunners also pursued the highly-rated forward last summer, but he extended his contract with Leipzig until 2029.

RB Leipzig are now willing to let Sesko leave after failing to qualify for the Champions League.

The striker is keen to join a club competing for the Champions League and domestic titles.

This season, he has scored 21 goals and provided six assists in all competitions, including four goals in the Champions League.
