Manchester United captain Bruno Fernandes is reportedly set to attract significant transfer interest from Saudi Pro League giants Al Hilal this summer, according to multiple reports.
Despite United enduring their worst-ever Premier League campaign, Fernandes has been a standout performer.
The talismanic attacking midfielder leads the team in goals and is also the top provider of assists and chances, maintaining his excellence amid the team’s collective struggles.
His consistent performances have caught the attention of clubs around the world.
Fernandes recently revealed that he turned down transfer offers before signing a new contract with United last summer.
While there were early rumours of interest from Real Madrid earlier this season, talk of potential bids from Saudi Arabia is now gaining traction.
The Daily Mail reports that Al Hilal are preparing to make a “big-money offer” for Fernandes this summer.
The reigning Saudi champions, who lost Neymar to Santos in January and were unable to secure a move for Liverpool’s Mohamed Salah, are reportedly reigniting their interest in United’s captain – a pursuit that reportedly began last summer.
No formal offer has been made yet, and transfer expert Fabrizio Romano states that the two clubs have not yet opened negotiations.
However, both outlets suggest Fernandes is unlikely to leave.
The 30-year-old is under contract with United until 2027, with an option for an additional year.
He is regarded as virtually untouchable by the club’s hierarchy.
Despite cost-cutting measures under Sir Jim Ratcliffe, even young talents like Kobbie Mainoo and Alejandro Garnacho could be sold for the right price, but Fernandes is in a different category entirely.
If Ruben Amorim had his way, he’d have an entire squad of Fernandes’.
“We need more Brunos,” the Portuguese coach said earlier this year. “His character, his availability – he’s so decisive with and without the ball.”
