Chelsea forward Christopher Nkunku is reportedly set to leave Stamford Bridge this summer, according to a new report.
The French striker has scored as many goals this season as Cole Palmer – 14 – but almost all of those have come in cup competitions.
Nkunku briefly earned a starting spot in the Premier League following a series of injuries to Chelsea’s other attacking options, but he was unable to seize that opportunity.
Since then, Enzo Maresca has relegated Nkunku to the substitutes’ bench, prompting the 27-year-old to seriously consider his future.
According to Sky Germany, Nkunku has made up his mind.
Florian Plettenberg reports that there is “no longer any doubt” that the mercurial forward has decided to seek a summer exit.
Throughout the winter transfer window, there were strong indications that Nkunku might leave Chelsea.
Reports circulated about a potential swap deal with Bayern Munich, which would have seen Mathys Tel move to west London, but the Bundesliga club denied those claims.
In the final hours of the transfer window, Manchester United reportedly made a late attempt to sign Nkunku, but their bid was rejected.
As the summer window approaches, Arsenal have emerged as a surprise suitor.
The Gunners have a recent track record of signing Chelsea players who have struggled to make an impact at Stamford Bridge.
Jorginho and Kai Havertz are currently part of Arsenal’s squad, while former players like Willian and David Luiz also made the move across London.
However, not all of these transfers have been considered successes.
Chelsea were said to be demanding between £60m and £65m for Nkunku, who joined the club in 2023 for an initial fee of £52m.
