Liverpool midfielder Curtis Jones has described his side’s recent poor run of form as “unacceptable” following their 4-1 Champions League defeat to PSV Eindhoven on Wednesday.

The Reds slumped to their ninth defeat in 12 games, with costly mistakes compounding the growing pressure on manager Arne Slot.

Jones was visibly frustrated after another collapse by the Premier League champions, who have now conceded 10 goals in their last three matches.

The defeat leaves Liverpool in the Champions League playoff positions after their second loss in the competition, but questions over Slot’s future continue to mount.

Curtis Jones said: “I don’t know, I don’t have the answers, I’m the same as everyone else. It’s unacceptable to be honest, as I said, I don’t even have the words, I’m past being angry and sad, I’m at the point now where I don’t have the words.

“It’s hard to find the words, I’m a player and a fan, I’m seeing it like this, I haven’t experienced a team play like this bad and results like this.

“At the end of the day, we still have that badge on our chest, until that badge goes, we’re always going to fight, try get this team to where it needs to be and show why Liverpool is the best team in the world.

“But as of now, we’re in the s*** and it needs to change.”

After Saturday’s loss to Nottingham Forest, Liverpool faced a tough task against PSV.

Ivan Perisic opened the scoring with a penalty inside five minutes, following a handball by Virgil van Dijk.

Dominik Szoboszlai equalised 16 minutes later, giving the hosts a brief spark of momentum.

Hugo Ekitike, Cody Gakpo, and Van Dijk all came close to putting Liverpool ahead before halftime.

The Reds continued to press after the break, with Alexis Mac Allister and Gakpo going close, but a lapse from Milos Kerkez allowed Guus Til to restore PSV’s lead.

Ibrahima Konate’s struggles this season were highlighted again when his error set up Couhaib Driouech’s first goal of the evening.

In stoppage time, Driouech doubled his tally to make it 4-1, sealing a humbling defeat for the Premier League champions.
