Curtis Jones is set to remain at Liverpool after the club rejected Inter Milan’s latest attempt to sign him, according to The Telegraph.
The Italian champions first expressed interest in Jones during the January transfer window and renewed their approach earlier this month.
With just 12 months remaining on his contract at Anfield, the midfielder has attracted attention after a campaign in which he grew frustrated by limited playing time.
Liverpool informed Inter that they value the academy graduate at £35m. Jones has made 228 appearances for his boyhood club, winning seven major honours and earning six England caps.
However, when Inter indicated they would only be willing to pay up to £20m, Liverpool made it clear they had no intention of doing business at that price. The club believe their valuation is fair, particularly in the current market.
New head coach Andoni Iraola is expected to give Curtis Jones opportunities next season, and there remains the possibility of talks over a new contract later in the year.
Liverpool are relaxed about the situation and have no concerns over the 25-year-old entering the final year of his deal.
Curtis Jones, who scored the final goal of the Arne Slot era in the 1-1 draw with Brentford that secured Champions League qualification, was used in both midfield and at right-back last season. He has consistently stated his desire for regular first-team football.
The midfielder is not involved in international duty this summer and will have an early opportunity to impress Iraola during Liverpool’s pre-season tour of the United States.
Jones is one of several Liverpool players entering the final year of their contracts, alongside captain Virgil van Dijk, goalkeeper Alisson Becker, Joe Gomez and Harvey Elliott. While contract decisions loom, Liverpool’s immediate focus remains strengthening the squad.
The Reds are still in contact with RB Leipzig after seeing an opening £86m bid for Yan Diomande rejected last week. The Ivory Coast winger remains Liverpool’s priority target, although alternative options are also being considered.
