Darwin Nunez expected to leave Liverpool this summer amid transfer plans

Darwin Nunez is set to leave Liverpool this summer after missing out on a January exit, according to Football Insider.

His proposed move to the Saudi Pro League was blocked by manager Arne Slot, who preferred to keep his squad intact for a push across all four competitions.

Nunez was frustrated after Liverpool rejected an offer from Al-Hilal during the January transfer window.

As the season progresses, the Reds are now expected to be open to offers for the forward, as he no longer plays a central role in the manager’s plans.

Liverpool are said to be looking for a more clinical replacement and have reportedly set their sights on Alexander Isak.

Football Insider also disclosed that the Reds are ready to part ways with Nunez, who has failed to impress Slot and his coaching staff.

The manager publicly criticised Nunez’s performances following disappointing displays against Aston Villa and Wolves, expressing his dissatisfaction with the forward’s form.

With this in mind, Darwin Nunez is expected to be moved on in the summer to make way for a new striker, as Liverpool look to bolster their attacking options.

The club is planning to sign a world-class forward this summer, with both Nunez and Luis Díaz coming under scrutiny for their performances.

Liverpool and Slot face significant decisions regarding several key players as they prepare for the summer transfer window, with Nunez among those likely to be sold.

One of the other pressing issues is the future of Ibrahima Konate, whose contract at Anfield will enter its final 12 months by the summer.

The French defender could leave for free in 2026 if a new deal is not agreed upon.
