Liverpool striker Darwin Nunez is reportedly open to a transfer to Saudi Arabian club Al-Hilal, according to Foot Mercato.
Al-Hilal have made initial contact with Nunez’s representatives, although no formal offer has been submitted yet.
Nunez, who joined Liverpool from Benfica in 2022, has experienced an inconsistent spell in the Premier League, struggling to adapt to the physical and tactical demands of English football.
While the 25-year-old has shown flashes of brilliance in a Liverpool shirt, his finishing and decision-making have often come under scrutiny.
Under Arne Slot, Nunez has fallen down the pecking order, starting just eight league matches and scoring five goals in the 2024/25 season.
Unsurprisingly, the Uruguayan has been linked with a summer exit from Anfield, with Atletico Madrid reportedly interested in signing him.
However, Los Colchoneros may now need to look elsewhere for offensive reinforcements, as Nunez appears increasingly open to the prospect of a move to the Middle East.
Following their unsuccessful pursuit of Victor Osimhen, Al-Hilal are acting quickly to secure new signings ahead of the upcoming Club World Cup.
A transfer to Al-Hilal would offer Nunez a more lucrative contract and the chance to regain the lethal goal-scoring form that convinced Liverpool to break their transfer record for him.
Should Nunez depart, the Reds would free up funds for new acquisitions as they close in on a major deal for Bayer Leverkusen’s Florian Wirtz.
The Premier League champions are also reportedly targeting Eintracht Frankfurt striker Hugo Ekitike and could spend up to €300million in the upcoming transfer window.
