Dominik Szoboszlai is set to commit his future to Liverpool by signing a new long-term contract, according to The Athletic.
An outline agreement is in place with the Hungary international after months of negotiations between sporting director Richard Hughes and his representatives.
The new deal will end speculation over the 25-year-old’s future and provide a major boost for new head coach Andoni Iraola.
Dominik Szoboszlai has two years remaining on his current contract after joining Liverpool from RB Leipzig for £60million in 2023.
The midfielder played a key role in Liverpool’s 2024-25 Premier League title success and was their standout performer during a difficult 2025-26 campaign, recording 13 goals and 12 assists in 53 appearances.
He became the first Liverpool midfielder to reach double figures for both goals and assists in a season since Steven Gerrard in 2013-14.
Asked about his future following April’s Merseyside derby win over Everton, he told reporters: “There has been no real progression, so I cannot say anything new about my contract situation.
“As you guys know, my contract ends in 2028, so I am ready to go every day, every week, and then let’s see. Of course I see myself here in the long term, but it is not really in my hands any more. I love being here. I love the fans. My family is happy.
“I’m completely relaxed. We have five games to go. Then I am going to rest — a big one, after my international break. Then we will see.”
