Dominik Szoboszlai’s agent plays down talk of interest in move to Real Madrid

Szoboszlai still has over two years remaining on his contract at Liverpool, who are keen to reward his progress after a standout campaign

Dominik Szoboszlai’s agent has dismissed speculation linking the midfielder with a summer move to Real Madrid, insisting he is not seeking a transfer.

The rumours followed comments from Hungary head coach Marco Rossi to Marca, describing it as Szoboszlai’s “dream” to play for Madrid.

The speculation was further fuelled when Vinícius Júnior revealed in a YouTube documentary that he regularly speaks with the Liverpool midfielder.

Despite the talk, Szoboszlai still has over two years remaining on his contract at Liverpool, who are keen to reward his progress after a standout campaign.

The Hungarian captain has also confirmed discussions over a contract extension are ongoing.

“It’s completely normal for the public, when Dominik is performing like this, to talk about what’s next and if there’s something higher,” Matyas Esterhazy said, speaking to Hungary news outlet NB1.

“For us it’s not a topic. We are mid-season; he has a lot of work ahead of him in the Premier League, the FA Cup and the Champions League. He has said many times how important this competition is for him.

“So at the moment to talk about what will happen in the summer in my opinion is not correct.

“Not to mention, Liverpool are one of the biggest clubs in the world and Dominik is in a position within the team that has a lot of reserve, so we are not looking outside or elsewhere.”
