Federico Chiesa has been voted Liverpool’s Standard Chartered Men’s Player of the Month for September.
The Italian forward claims the award for the first time in his Reds career after topping a supporter poll on Liverpoolfc.com.
Chiesa earned 34 per cent of the votes, finishing ahead of Alisson Becker (18 per cent) and Ryan Gravenberch (18 per cent), who placed second and third respectively.
The 27-year-old made three appearances during the month, contributing to three goals in total.
He starred in the Carabao Cup third-round win over Southampton at Anfield, providing assists for Alexander Isak and Hugo Ekitike, which earned him the Carlsberg Player of the Match award.
A few days later, Chiesa came off the bench to score in Liverpool’s Premier League clash with Crystal Palace, rounding off a superb month of performances.
Collecting the trophy at the AXA Training Centre, Federico Chiesa said: “Of course, I’m glad I won this prize. Thank you to the fans for the support and for voting for me.
“I would rather not get it in the future and win more games. But thank you again.
“The support always has been amazing. I try to give my best on the pitch for the fans and for Liverpool. I love to see that the fans actually appreciate what I’m doing.”
Chiesa added: “I was happy after the Southampton game because we won, but then at Crystal Palace we couldn’t win and we couldn’t even draw. I wasn’t happy at the end of the game because my goal didn’t count [for anything].
“We hope to turn things around in the future.
“Whatever the minutes are that I’m playing, I try to give my best, I try to help the team, stay positive and try to make an impact. That’s what I’m here for.
“I hope I keep on pushing and keep on giving something back to the fans.”
