Inter Milan have renewed their interest in Liverpool midfielder Curtis Jones, according to The Athletic.
Liverpool previously rejected an offer worth around €25million (£21.7m/), valuing the 25-year-old at approximately €40m.
The Serie A champions have since reopened contact through intermediaries and indicated they are prepared to increase their offer to €35m. However, that figure still falls short of Liverpool’s asking price.
Jones has just one year remaining on his contract, but Liverpool’s hierarchy are prepared to keep him until the summer of 2027 rather than accept a fee below their valuation.
The club have pointed to Tottenham Hotspur’s €40m signing of Conor Gallagher from Atletico Madrid in January as a benchmark.
There are currently no active negotiations over a contract extension, although Liverpool remain open to discussing a new deal if the gap between the two parties can be narrowed.
Inter also attempted to sign Jones during the January transfer window with a loan offer that included an option to buy, but Liverpool rejected the proposal.
A product of Liverpool’s Kirkby Academy, Jones made his senior debut in January 2019 at the age of 17. Since then, he has made 228 appearances for the Reds, scoring 22 goals and providing 25 assists.
During his time at Anfield, he has won two Premier League titles, the FA Cup and two Carabao Cups.
