Jurgen Klopp rejected Manchester United and Chelsea after Liverpool exit
Jurgen Klopp is set to return to the dugout with Liverpool Legends

Jurgen Klopp’s agent has revealed that he rejected approaches from Manchester United and Chelsea after leaving Liverpool.
Klopp, now Red Bull’s Head of Global Soccer, recently said he does not currently want to return to coaching but “cannot say never,” with continued interest from top clubs since his Anfield exit.
His agent Marc Kosicke said: “Before joining Red Bull, Jurgen (Klopp) could have coached the USA or England. Probably Germany too, if Julian Nagelsmann hadn’t already been there.
“Even Chelsea and Manchester United inquired, although Jurgen had clearly stated that he would not coach any other club in England. These inquiries haven’t stopped.”
Asked if Klopp would consider a return to coaching, Kosicke explained: “At the moment, I don’t see that happening, because he’s very happy with his new role and in this environment.
“He’s also found a kindred spirit in Mario Gomez (Technical Director at Red Bull).
“Mario used to hate Jurgen because he stole two league titles and a DFB Cup from him. And Jurgen, in turn, would have loved to have Mario on his team. The two of them make a great combination today. Mario believes that Jurgen often says things he himself thinks.
“Maybe he’ll say again someday that he needs to smell the locker room again, but right now, as I said, he’s very, very happy in his role.”
Jurgen Klopp is set to return to the dugout with Liverpool Legends, marking his first Anfield appearance since watching Liverpool lift the Premier League title last May.
The closest professional role he has been linked with is the Germany job, currently held by Julian Nagelsmann.
“Bayern came very close to signing us twice,” he said. “Once in 2008: Uli Hoeness wanted Jurgen Klopp, but Karl-Heinz Rummenigge wanted Jurgen Klinsmann.
“And after Niko Kovac (who was sacked in November 2019), when Jurgen was at Liverpool, they approached us again. Nobody thought things would be so successful with (eventual Bayern boss) Hansi Flick. There just wasn’t the right momentum.”
