Juventus and Paul Pogba have reached a mutual agreement to terminate the midfielder’s contract, paving the way for his return to football.
Pogba had initially been handed a four-year suspension following a failed doping test after a Serie A match against Udinese in August 2023.
This suspension was later reduced to 18 months, meaning the Frenchman will be eligible to return to competitive action in March 2024.
However, under new manager Thiago Motta, Juventus have embarked on a new project this season, and Pogba’s time at the Allianz Stadium is set to end.
According to CalcioMercato, the club and the player have reached an agreement to terminate Pogba’s contract by mutual consent, with an official announcement expected soon, possibly before the end of Friday evening.
Pogba rejoined Juventus from Manchester United in 2022 on a lucrative €8million contract.
With the termination of his contract, Gazzetta dello Sport reports that Juventus will save approximately €30million, accounting for his annual salary and any potential bonuses he would have received in the final 12 months of his deal.
Currently, Pogba is training in Miami, as reported by Fabrizio Romano, to ensure he is in peak physical condition for his return in March.
He will be allowed to officially begin training with a new club in January.
