Juventus have reportedly opened preliminary talks over a potential summer move for Manchester United striker Rasmus Højlund.
The young Danish forward has faced significant criticism this season – much of it arguably unfair – due to a drop in goal output.
After netting 16 goals across all competitions in his debut campaign at Old Trafford, Højlund has managed just eight so far in his second season, with less than two months remaining.
Several factors have contributed to his struggles, including the immense pressure of expectations at such a young age—he only turned 22 in February—a lack of consistent service, low confidence, and some individual shortcomings.
Rumours linking Højlund with a summer exit are nothing new, especially with Manchester United understood to be in the market for another striker. The likes of Viktor Gyökeres, Hugo Ekitike, Liam Delap, and Victor Osimhen have all been linked.
While interest from Napoli has been more frequently reported, Juventus now appear to be exploring a new avenue.
According to journalist Matteo Moretto, speaking on YouTube, Juventus are looking to sign two strikers this summer, and talks concerning Højlund are said to be in the early stages rather than anything concrete.
Dusan Vlahović is expected to leave the Turin club this summer amid links with Arsenal, Chelsea, and Manchester United, as he continues to stall on signing a new contract.
Randal Kolo Muani, who joined Juventus on loan from Paris Saint-Germain in January, has scored five goals in nine Serie A appearances.
He could be one of the two strikers Juve are targeting, though a permanent deal would still need to be negotiated with PSG.
This isn’t the first time Juventus have shown interest in Højlund.
The Italian giants previously tracked him during his impressive stint at Atalanta, before he joined United in 2023. At the time, he was also beginning to make an impact with the Danish national team.
As for Napoli, Moretto reports that the club’s interest in Højlund is no longer a priority.
He is thought to be just one name among many on a broader shortlist, rather than a primary target at this stage.
