Liverpool have agreed a £30m deal with Genk for goalkeeper Lucca Brughmans, according to the Liverpool Echo.
The 18-year-old is undergoing a medical and is expected to remain in Belgium for the 2026/27 season before moving to Anfield next summer.
Liverpool identified Brughmans as a future star and have reportedly beaten competition from Real Madrid and several other European clubs.
The goalkeeper has made 14 Jupiler Pro League appearances for Genk and has represented Belgium at youth level.
However, Nottingham Forest’s interest in Liverpool deputy Giorgi Mamardashvili could accelerate Brughmans’ move to Anfield.
Should Mamardashvili leave before Tuesday’s 11pm deadline, Liverpool could bring Brughmans in immediately to provide competition for Alisson Becker.
Lucca Brughmans was identified by Liverpool’s Global Talent department, headed by Matt Newberry, with the club stepping up their interest in recent days.
The teenager has previously named Thibaut Courtois as his idol and wore the No.28 shirt at Genk in honour of his compatriot.
Liverpool also have Freddie Woodman as their third-choice goalkeeper, while Vitezslav Jaros is recovering from an ACL injury.
Brughmans is the latest young talent targeted by Liverpool’s recruitment department, following the January arrivals of Mor Talla Ndiaye and Ifeanyi Ndukwe.
Colombian playmaker Samuel Martinez is also set to join from Atletico Nacional next year.
