Liverpool are set to complete the signing of Colombia youth international Samuel Martinez from Atletico Nacional for around £750,000, according to The Athletic.
The 17-year-old attacking midfielder has travelled to Merseyside to complete the formalities but will remain with Atletico Nacional for the 2026-27 season, with Liverpool continuing to monitor his development.
Martinez impressed the club’s recruitment team during Colombia’s run to the South American Under-17 Championship title in April, where they defeated Argentina in the final.
He is also expected to represent his country at the Under-17 World Cup in Qatar this November.
Liverpool beat competition from several European clubs to secure his signature, with head of South American scouting Fernando Troiani, academy recruitment chief Chris Dowling and director of global talent Matt Newberry involved in the deal.
Samuel Martinez is yet to make his senior debut but Liverpool hope he will gain first-team experience in Colombia before moving to Anfield ahead of the 2027-28 season.
