Liverpool boss Arne Slot dismisses transfer talk for Bournemouth’s Milos Kerkez

Liverpool manager Arne Slot downplayed speculation surrounding a potential move for Milos Kerkez following his side’s 2-0 victory over Bournemouth.

However, he did acknowledge that the Hungarian full-back is “having a great season.”

The Reds overcame a strong Bournemouth side on Saturday, securing all three points at the Vitality Stadium thanks to Mohamed Salah’s brace, taking his Premier League goal tally for the season to 20 and 21.

The win extended Liverpool’s lead at the top of the table to nine points, continuing their exceptional form, which has seen them also top the revamped Champions League group.

With the Dutchman at the helm, Liverpool are now among the favourites to clinch the title in his first season.

While Liverpool’s overall performance has been stellar, there have been questions about the futures of several key players.

Trent Alexander-Arnold, Virgil van Dijk, and Mohamed Salah all have contracts expiring in the summer, with extensions yet to be agreed.

Meanwhile, Andrew Robertson’s recent displays at left-back have occasionally come under scrutiny, as they have not consistently met the high standards he has set in previous seasons.

Milos Kerkez has played a prominent role in Bournemouth’s strong campaign this season, and speculation about his future has intensified, with many linking him to a move this summer.

However, when asked about the 21-year-old’s potential transfer, Slot downplayed the rumors, while praising Kerkez for his excellent performances since his move from AZ Alkmaar in 2023.

“He’s playing over here, he’s having a great season, as many, many other players are here as well,” Slot said.

“It shows you probably how good of a manager you have, and what a great sports director you had, or still have, I don’t know how the one is doing now, he brought in very good players and this manager works with them in an incredible way because he brings the best out of every single player, including the one you just mentioned.

“But I’m not talking about an individual, they are all bringing the best out of their game at the moment.”
