Liverpool forward Darwin Nunez teases potential exit amid Saudi Arabia transfer rumours

Liverpool striker Darwin Nunez was caught on camera jokingly covering his mouth while making a playful plea to Saudi Arabia about a potential future transfer and the riches the Gulf state could offer him.

This comes amid ongoing rumours suggesting January interest from Saudi Arabia, though the situation remains unclear as new reports continue to unfold.

Despite a smooth transition following Jurgen Klopp’s departure and Arne Slot taking over as head coach, Liverpool’s centre-forward position remains unsettled.

On the right, Mohamed Salah is a fixture, and on the left, Cody Gakpo is a regular.

However, the role of the central striker is still up for debate.

Diogo Jota initially took the spot under Slot, but an injury in October has kept him sidelined.

As Jota returns, Nunez has been expected to step up, but his six goals so far this season suggest a struggle.

Meanwhile, Luis Díaz has been experimented with as a central striker, though his performances have been mixed.

Nunez, who arrived from Benfica for €100m (£85m) in 2022, had a steady start in a turbulent Liverpool side, scoring 14 goals in his first season.

Last season, in a more cohesive team, he improved further with 17 goals — a solid contribution.

However, Nunez’s recent struggles in a team that has been scoring freely through other players raise concerns, fuelling speculation about a potential move.

Reports suggest that any attempt to sign the 25-year-old would likely be deferred until next summer.

With silverware on the line this season and the transfer window just closed, it is surprising to see the striker, himself, tease an exit.

In a video with Pro Direct Soccer, Nunez and Díaz were discussing their teammates’ cars, with Núñez revealing he owns five in total.

Díaz scoffed at the “big money” Nunez earns, adding to the lighthearted nature of the conversation.

“I need more money,” replies Nunez with a wink and smile the camera. Covering his mouth and talking to the presenter, he whispers: “Saudi. Come on Saudi.”
