Liverpool reignite interest in signing Inter Milan striker Marcus Thuram

Liverpool have reportedly renewed their interest in Inter Milan forward Marcus Thuram, according to claims from Italy.

Thuram was heavily linked with several Premier League clubs in the summer of 2023 when he left Borussia Monchengladbach as a free agent.

Liverpool’s admiration for the French international dates back to 2020, with the 27-year-old once considered a target before Diogo Jota’s arrival at Anfield.

Since joining Inter Milan, Thuram has flourished at the San Siro, recording an impressive 23 goals and 19 assists in 61 appearances.

This season alone, he has contributed 13 goal involvements in just 15 matches, underlining his exceptional form.

According to La Gazzetta dello Sport, new Liverpool manager Arne Slot has taken notice and instructed the club’s recruitment team to reassess Thuram’s suitability for the squad. T

he Reds are believed to have reestablished contact with the player’s representatives to emphasize their interest in a potential move.

A transfer to Liverpool would offer Thuram the chance to reunite with close friend Federico Chiesa, another player frequently linked with the Merseyside club.

However, Inter Milan remain firm on their £70million release clause, which simplifies negotiations but poses a financial challenge.

Despite Liverpool’s overtures, Thuram appears committed to Inter Milan.

The forward has publicly expressed his affection for the Nerazzurri, affirming both privately and in interviews that he sees his future in Milan for the time being.

Liverpool’s pursuit of attacking reinforcements stems from ongoing uncertainty over Mohamed Salah’s future.

The Egyptian star’s contract expires at the end of the season, prompting the Reds to explore possible replacements.

A host of forwards have been linked with Liverpool as alternatives, including Brentford’s Bryan Mbeumo, Bournemouth’s Antoine Semenyo, Real Sociedad’s Takefusa Kubo, and Real Madrid’s Rodrygo.
