Liverpool have agreed a deal to sign Djylian N’Guessan from Saint-Etienne, with the French forward set to officially join the club in January.
The 18-year-old will spend the rest of the 2026-27 season on loan at Ligue 1 side Stade Brestois.
Djylian N’Guessan came through Saint-Etienne’s academy, making 13 senior appearances and scoring once after making his debut in January 2025.
The forward played seven matches for France at the 2025 U20 World Cup, helping them finish fourth.
He was also named in the Team of the Tournament at last summer’s U17 European Championship after scoring four goals.
He made his professional debut for Saint-Etienne aged 16 in January 2025, making eight Ligue 1 appearances before the club were relegated.
N’Guessan made three Ligue 2 appearances last season and scored his first senior goal in the Coupe de France.
Armin Pesci, Mor Talla N’Diaye, Ifeanyi Ndukwe and Samuel Martinez have also joined Liverpool in the past year as the club continues to recruit emerging young talent.
On deadline day, Liverpool completed the £30m signing of highly rated Belgian goalkeeper Lucca Brughmans, who will remain at Genk this season.
Like Brughmans, N’Guessan’s signing falls under the club’s Global Talent team, led by Matt Newberry.
Senior players Bradley Barcola, Victor Munoz, Jeremy Jacquet and Ronald Araujo also joined Liverpool this summer.
While Andoni Iraola is happy with the club’s transfer business, he hinted that he did not get everything he wanted.
