Liverpool are expected to return with a third bid for Brighton’s Yankuba Minteh, while talks over Bradley Barcola continue as the transfer window enters its final week.
Liverpool’s need for further reinforcements was highlighted on the opening day of the Premier League season, with attacking additions remaining the priority ahead of the September 1 deadline.
Barcola and Minteh remain targets, while Ibrahim Mbaye is still being linked with a move despite Liverpool seemingly being priced out of a deal. The Reds are looking to sign two new wingers.
It remains to be seen what impact the arrivals could have on Cody Gakpo, who started the season with a goal and is reportedly a leading target for Tottenham.
Liverpool still have work to do at the negotiating table, with bids for Barcola and Minteh expected imminently. Barcola and Mbaye were both left out of PSG’s squad for Sunday’s draw against Rennes.
Daily Mail’s Lewis Steele reports that Liverpool “remain hopeful” of signing Barcola “this week”, while Le Parisien claims “a favorable outcome could be reached at any moment.”
Liverpool are seeking a compromise over PSG’s valuation of Bradley Barcola. It has been suggested a deal could be agreed for less than €150million (£128.3m), but not below €120m (£102.6m).
Meanwhile, Liverpool are preparing a third bid for Minteh after Brighton rejected offers of £50m and £60m last week. The Seagulls are reportedly holding out for around £70m.
According to Gambian journalist Foday Manneh, who first reported Liverpool’s interest in Minteh, a third bid was expected on Sunday evening or Monday morning.
The player is reportedly waiting to finalise personal terms, which are not expected to be a problem. Minteh would be an addition to Bradley Barcola, with Liverpool aiming to sign two wingers before next Tuesday’s deadline.
However, the 22-year-old would not be an immediate option for Andoni Iraola after undergoing surgery on a right-leg injury that is expected to keep him sidelined until at least November.
Minteh has recorded 17 goal contributions in 66 Premier League appearances, scoring nine goals and providing eight assists.
