Liverpool have been advised that their biggest obstacle in the Premier League title race is themselves.
The Reds currently sit atop the table with a six-point lead over nearest challengers Arsenal.
They last lifted the trophy in 2020 under Jurgen Klopp and came close again in 2022, finishing as runners-up.
Now, in their first season under Arne Slot, who replaced Klopp last summer, they are enjoying a remarkable campaign.
Additionally, Liverpool hold a game in hand over Arsenal due to the postponement of their Merseyside derby against Everton.
Former Reds striker John Aldridge has urged his old club to block out external distractions and focus solely on their own performances.
The ex-Republic of Ireland international, who won the league with Liverpool in 1988, believes the key to success lies in maintaining their momentum without worrying about their rivals.
“It’s not about Arsenal, Man City or whoever in the title-race now – it’s about ourselves. People say to me, ‘Who are you worried about?’ I’m worried about Liverpool. Whether we go through a bad run or whatever,” he told the Liverpool Echo.
“We don’t need to worry about Arsenal, only worry about ourselves.
“We just need to keep on going, keep on doing what we’re doing and try to get even better if we can, taking every game as it comes.
“If we win the game in hand and can beat Arsenal at home, they could go a long way to make sure we’re there at the end of the season.
“There are big games coming up, massive games. We know that.”
