Man Utd co-owner Sir Jim Ratcliffe admires Harry Kane but unlikely to make move

Manchester United co-owner Sir Jim Ratcliffe is reportedly a big admirer of Bayern Munich striker Harry Kane, but a move to Old Trafford appears unlikely.

Kane’s future at Bayern has been cast into doubt following revelations that his contract includes multiple release clauses.

While the England captain has opted not to trigger an early exit this summer, he could be available for as little as €65m (£54m) in 2026.

According to BILD, Kane specifically negotiated these clauses to keep the door open for a potential Premier League return, as he remains determined to break Alan Shearer’s all-time goal record.

The 30-year-old left Tottenham Hotspur in 2023 just 47 goals shy of Shearer’s historic tally of 260.

With Kane’s potential availability in the future, speculation linking him to United has resurfaced.

The Red Devils made multiple attempts to sign him before his switch to Bayern, but Harry Kane himself has downplayed the latest rumors.

Transfer expert Fabrizio Romano has confirmed Ratcliffe is a “big fan” of the striker.

However, United’s current recruitment strategy is focused on younger talents, with an emphasis on reducing costs.

As a result, a £54m move for Kane – who will be 33 years old in 2026 – is considered highly unlikely.

New United head coach Ruben Amorim is keen to add a striker this summer to ease the burden on Rasmus Højlund and new signing Joshua Zirkzee, but the club’s targets appear to lie elsewhere.

Sporting CP’s Viktor Gyökeres and Napoli’s Victor Osimhen have been heavily linked, while Kane is not currently a priority.
