Manchester City are reportedly prepared to offer Erling Haaland a record-breaking financial package to secure the striker’s long-term commitment.
The Norwegian star, 24, has been a sensation since joining City in the summer of 2022, scoring goals at an astonishing rate.
His contributions were pivotal to Pep Guardiola’s team achieving a historic treble in the 2022-23 season.
However, Haaland’s prolific form has attracted significant interest from Europe’s elite clubs, including Real Madrid and Barcelona, reigniting speculation about his future.
According to The Sun, Man City are ready to table a deal worth over £100 million if Haaland agrees to extend his current contract, which runs until the summer of 2027.
The former Borussia Dortmund striker currently earns £375,000 per week, amounting to roughly £20million annually before bonuses.
Under the proposed extension, his total earnings, including incentives, would surpass £100 million.
Man City’s push to secure Haaland’s future comes on the back of positive news regarding Guardiola.
Reports earlier this week suggested that the Catalan manager is set to sign a one-year contract extension, keeping him at the club until the end of the 2025-26 season, with an option for a further year.
Guardiola’s potential renewal could play a significant role in Haaland’s decision.
The striker has often expressed his admiration for the Manchester City boss, who is on track to complete a decade at the helm of the club.
Speaking during the international break, Haaland voiced his hope that Guardiola would continue to lead City, particularly amid rumors linking the manager to national team roles, including the previously vacant England job.
With Guardiola’s extension expected to be confirmed soon, City are now turning their focus to Haaland, aiming to solidify their dominance for years to come.
Erling Haaland said: “I hope Pep signs a new contract. He has been important for me in the first two-and-a-half years. I hope he stays longer. I like Pep a lot and hope he likes me, too.”
