Manchester United enter race for Bournemouth defender Dean Huijsen

Manchester United have emerged as the latest club linked with a move for Bournemouth centre-back Dean Huijsen.

Since his £12.8m transfer from Juventus last summer, Huijsen has quickly become one of Europe’s most promising young defenders.

His standout performances have caught the attention of some of the continent’s biggest clubs, with several now reportedly eyeing him for a move in the upcoming summer transfer window.

Chelsea have recently been linked with placing Dean Huijsen near the top of their wishlist, while Real Madrid view the 19-year-old as a potential answer to their ongoing centre-back issues.

Now, according to AS, Manchester United have entered the race, with plans to bolster their defence by adding another young centre-back to their ranks.

Man United beat Madrid to the signing of Leny Yoro last summer and are now targeting Huijsen in a similar move.

The Dutch defender is seen as a perfect fit for Ruben Amorim’s three-man defence system.

With the potential departures of Victor Lindelof and Jonny Evans this summer, and Lisandro Martinez expected to miss much of the calendar year due to a serious knee injury, United are eager to strengthen their defensive options.

Other targets on the club’s radar include Everton’s Jarrad Branthwaite, Sporting CP’s Goncalo Inacio, and West Ham United’s Jean-Clair Todibo, the latter of whom is set to complete a permanent move away from INEOS-owned Nice in the summer.

Huijsen’s contract with Bournemouth is believed to contain a release clause, making him a potentially affordable target for Madrid, who are also facing a £100m price tag for Arsenal’s William Saliba.
