Andre Onana will undergo a late fitness test ahead of Manchester United’s Premier League fixture against Leicester City tonight.
The Cameroonian goalkeeper was unwell this morning, and United have made contingency plans in case he is unable to start the 7pm kick-off.
Academy goalkeepers Dermot Mee or Elyh Harrison are on standby, with one of them potentially making their senior debut if Onana is ruled out.
Despite his illness, Andre Onana remains optimistic about playing and intends to travel to the King Power Stadium.
The late kick-off time gives him additional time to recover.
However, United’s goalkeeping options remain limited, with second and third-choice goalkeepers Altay Bayindir and Tom Heaton sidelined since early February due to injury.
Mee, 22, previously made four appearances for National League side Altrincham but has not played senior football since September 2022.
Meanwhile, 19-year-old Harrison featured 18 times on loan at Chester FC earlier this season before returning to United.
Since joining from Inter Milan in July 2023, Onana has been ever-present in the Premier League for United, playing in all 66 of their league matches without missing a game due to injury.
