Matheus Cunha’s £62m release clause revealed as Arsenal, Liverpool, and Chelsea eye summer move

Matheus Cunha reportedly has a release clause in his Wolves contract, handing Arsenal, Liverpool, and Chelsea a potential boost ahead of the summer transfer window.

The 25-year-old Brazilian forward has been one of the standout performers in the Premier League this season, playing a key role in Wolves’ attacking setup. His contributions—11 goals and four assists—have been instrumental in boosting the club’s chances of securing top-flight survival.

Cunha’s impressive form led to significant interest in January, with Arsenal among the clubs keen on securing his services.

However, despite speculation, he committed his future to Wolves by signing a four-and-a-half-year contract.

Many assumed this would rule out an immediate departure, but fresh reports suggest otherwise.

According to the Daily Mail, Cunha’s new deal includes a £62million release clause that becomes active in the summer.

This means clubs can trigger his exit without the need for negotiations, putting several Premier League sides on high alert. Arsenal, Liverpool, Chelsea, Tottenham, Aston Villa, and Nottingham Forest are all reportedly monitoring the situation.

Mikel Arteta’s side failed to sign a striker in January but are expected to prioritize attacking reinforcements in the summer.

Despite having Gabriel Jesus and Kai Havertz, the Gunners have struggled for consistency in front of goal. With his proven Premier League pedigree, Cunha could be an ideal solution to bolster Arsenal’s frontline.

Meanwhile, Liverpool have yet to outline their summer transfer plans, but speculation is growing that they could enter the race for Matheus Cunha.

The uncertainty surrounding Mohamed Salah’s future – with continued interest from Saudi Arabian clubs – means the Reds may need to identify potential replacements.

As the summer window approaches, Cunha’s release clause is set to make him one of the most sought-after forwards in the Premier League.
