Raheem Sterling has been urged to “step up” for Arsenal amid the Gunners’ growing injury crisis in attack, according to Simon Jordan.
Sterling joined Arsenal on loan from Chelsea at the start of the summer transfer window after a difficult stint at Stamford Bridge.
However, his time at the Emirates has been equally challenging, with goals and regular game time hard to come by.
Some Arsenal fans even called for Sterling to be sent back to Chelsea earlier in the season following an injury he sustained.
But now, it seems the 30-year-old may finally get a chance to prove himself for the Gunners.
This comes after a series of setbacks at the club. Earlier this week, news broke that Kai Havertz had suffered an injury, which will keep him sidelined for several weeks – a blow that has left fans disappointed.
The injury crisis has also limited Mikel Arteta’s options in attack, both centrally and on the wings.
With Bukayo Saka, Gabriel Jesus, and Gabriel Martinelli all unavailable due to fitness concerns, Raheem Sterling is one of the few forwards left to choose from.
Jordan sees this as a crucial opportunity for the winger to make his mark.
Speaking on talkSPORT about the options remaining for Arteta in attack, the former Crystal Palace chairman said: “Up you step Raheem Sterling.
“Everyone tells you how wonderful you are.
“There might be a reason why Manchester City bounced you into Chelsea and Chelsea bounced you out to Arsenal, now’s your opportunity to prove everybody wrong and earn your money.”
