Real Betis prepare bid to extend Antony’s loan from Man United

Real Betis are preparing to submit a bid to extend Antony’s loan from Manchester United for an additional 12 months, according to reports.

The Brazilian winger’s six-month loan to Betis in January has proved to be a career revival, with Antony scoring five goals and providing four assists in 18 appearances.

His performances have impressed United, who are now optimistic about securing a permanent sale worth up to £40million this summer, though this still represents a £42 million loss compared to their initial investment.

While the current loan deal does not include an option for a permanent transfer, Betis has already expressed their desire to retain Antony beyond this season.

According to The Telegraph, Betis are looking to extend the loan by another year rather than pursue a permanent transfer at this time.

Other reports suggest this was always part of Betis’ plan, and they only agreed to the initial six-month arrangement because it was simpler than negotiating terms for an 18-month deal.

Whether Manchester United would be open to such an offer remains uncertain.

The Red Devils are eager to part ways with Antony permanently this summer, as they look to fund their own transfer activities.

Some reports suggest that United might consider another loan deal if Betis agrees to include an obligation to make the transfer permanent next summer, though there is no indication that the Spanish club is willing to make such a commitment at this stage.

It is believed that Betis would only consider a permanent move if they secure a place in next season’s UEFA Champions League.

The club currently sits fifth in La Liga, a position that guarantees qualification for Europe’s elite club competition, much like the Premier League’s top four.

In a lighthearted twist, two of Antony’s Betis teammates have even joked about starting a crowdfunding campaign to raise the funds for a permanent transfer.

The Brazilian has become a popular figure at the club and has frequently expressed his happiness in Seville. However, much will depend on Manchester United’s financial demands.
