Real Madrid have reportedly identified two potential successors should they part ways with Carlo Ancelotti.
Despite holding onto their La Liga and Champions League titles, the Spanish giants have faced difficulties in the early stages of the season.
Los Blancos have struggled to find the right balance, particularly with the arrival of Kylian Mbappe, and have suffered disappointing defeats to Barcelona and AC Milan in recent weeks, raising questions about Ancelotti’s future.
We have to be concerned, the team is not playing well,” the boss told reporters after Tuesday’s loss.
“The team is not compact, we need to be more compact, more organised, we’ve conceded a lot of goals.
“The team is not well organised on the pitch and we need to work on this.
“We have to focus on what we have today, which is a team that is not at its best, and get back to our level so we can fight for all competitions.”
“It is not an issue of motivation or attitude, it’s a collective thing that we need to fix quickly,” he continued.
“On the pitch something is missing and we have not been able to show our best version.
“We have to fix this, but the nights are going to be very long and we have to recover the solidity that we are lacking.
“That’s the problem above all, we’ve conceded too many goals for a team that is built on solidity.”
However, according to Marca, the club remains calm about Ancelotti’s position, with officials confident that the legendary coach can steer the team back on course.
Ancelotti’s contract runs until the summer of 2026, and Real Madrid are eager to keep him at the helm for the duration of the deal.
Despite their optimism, Marca reports that club president Florentino Perez and other senior officials have prepared contingency plans.
Should the situation not improve, they are considering two potential replacements for Carlo Ancelotti – current Real Madrid Castilla coach Raul Gonzalez and former manager Santiago Solari.
Ancelotti’s next challenge will come this Saturday, November 9, as his side takes on Osasuna at the Santiago Bernabeu.
