According to reports from Spain, Liverpool could be open to selling a current first-team regular in the January transfer window.

Despite the transfer market closing a fortnight ago, speculation continues over the future of Ibrahima Konate, who is now in the final 10 months of his contract at Anfield.

Last week, the Daily Mail’s Lewis Steele reported that Real Madrid are growing increasingly confident of signing the French defender in 2026

Madrid have discussed a potential agreement with the 26-year-old, who has not given any firm indication of wanting to leave Merseyside.

Although Los Blancos could sign Konate on a free transfer next summer, they may try to make their move sooner.

According to E-Noticies, Xabi Alonso’s side will go “all out” for the centre-back and are reportedly planning to offer €40m (£34.6m) for him in January.

It is suggested that Liverpool could accept such a proposal to avoid losing their France international for nothing at the end of the season, should a contract extension not be agreed in the meantime.

Meanwhile, current Real Madrid attacker Arda Guler has reportedly spoken to Konate about a potential move to the Bernabéu and is said to have endorsed the transfer.
