Ruben Amorim has acknowledged that Manchester United’s transfer window business has been a “risk,” but insisted he wouldn’t have handled things any differently.
Man United made bold moves, sending Marcus Rashford, Antony, and Tyrell Malacia out on loan, but failed to address their attacking woes by signing a striker.
This came despite the team managing just 28 goals in 24 Premier League games this season.
Amorim admitted that not adding a forward was a risk but emphasized that the club did not want to repeat past mistakes.
Despite a challenging run of form, with five defeats in their last six league matches, the manager remains resolute in his approach and commitment to doing things his way.
“What I feel is that the club is taking its time,” said Ruben Amorim.
“We know the urgency of the moment of the team, but everybody here doesn’t want to make the same mistakes of the past.
“In the summer we will see but, like I said, we are being really careful with transfers because we did some mistakes in the past.
“We are fighting for our jobs until the summer and I am just focused on these games.
“I think is a moment that is hard to turn things around in just a few games.
“It’s going to be like that – really hard until the end of the season, so we are taking that risk you talk about.
“We want a different thing in the team, different profiles, and that is my decision to do that, so we are taking some risks but it is the way we want to proceed.
“We want to win some games and I’m always complaining, to improve the players.
“I want certain type of players with a different profile and we are changing right away.
“I knew, when I chose this profession, that you have the risk of results and I knew when I came here, I looked at the schedule, I looked at the team and my decision changing everything in the middle of the season, without new signings, was a danger for a coach.
“But I have a clear idea of what I want to do and I take these risks because, in the end, it’s going to pay off.
“But I’m not naive, I have said that many times, this is a sport of results and we are in a difficult situation.”
