Ruben Amorim has no regrets over Marcus Rashford’s Manchester United exit

Ruben Amorim has no regrets about allowing Marcus Rashford to leave Manchester United, despite the striker’s move to Aston Villa on loan.

Man United suffered their fifth home defeat in the last six Premier League games, with their persistent struggles in front of goal once again highlighted by their failure to score.

With only four teams in the Premier League having scored fewer goals than United this season, Amorim insisted it would not be “embarrassing” if Rashford goes to Villa and finds his scoring form once again.

“It’s not embarrassing,” said Ruben Amorim.

“When you loan a player – and I don’t think it’s official yet – you expect him to play and improve, so there’s nothing humiliating there.

“I understand the question, but I’m just focused on my players, that’s all.

“When the window closes, I will be really focused on just our team and trying to improve our team.

“We have to improve as a team to score goals and we are trying our best to improve the team.

“This market is really hard on the clubs to make some deals here.

“It’s hard.

“Then you have the urgency and sometimes, when you are in the moment, you make mistakes.

“We’re trying everything and we want so badly to improve, I want so badly to improve the team. I know what the team needs.

“Sometimes it’s possible or not, but we’re trying everything.”

Amorim added: “When the window closes, we will see the players, I’m focused on improving the team as a group.

“We need to win more games and we will try to do that, this season is like that.

“We need small improvements, try to win points, win the momentum, then we had setbacks and we go again.

“But it’s clear we need to improve.”
