Tottenham firm on keeping Destiny Udogie amid Manchester City interest

Tottenham Hotspur have made it clear to Manchester City that they have no intention of selling left-back Destiny Udogie this summer, according to recent reports.

City have been in search of a new full-back since the January transfer window, and it has recently emerged that 22-year-old Udogie is on Pep Guardiola’s radar ahead of what is expected to be an expensive summer.

However, officials at the Etihad Stadium have acknowledged that any deal for Udogie would be extremely complicated.

As reported by Florian Plettenberg, Spurs have only reinforced these concerns by taking a firm stance on the player’s future.

Tottenham have refused to even set an asking price for Udogie, making it clear to City that they have no intention of entertaining any offers for the Italy international.

Udogie is seen as a crucial part of both the present and future of the club, and Tottenham’s officials will do everything in their power to retain the young defender.

While Spurs are expected to look for a new left-back this summer, it is likely to be as a backup to Udogie.

Right-sided Djed Spence has typically been the cover this season, with Sergio Reguilon out of favor under manager Ange Postecoglou.

Meanwhile, City’s interest in Juventus’ Andrea Cambiaso continues, and there was previously optimism that a deal could be struck for around £60 million.

However, it was recently reported that Juventus’ owners have made investments that have alleviated the club’s need to sell key players like Cambiaso.

City are also keen to replace right-back Kyle Walker, who has been on loan with AC Milan since January.

Although an option for a permanent transfer worth €5million (£4.3million) may not be activated, City will not welcome the England international back into their squad if he returns.
