Tottenham Hotspur have parted ways with head coach Ange Postecoglou after exactly two years in charge, according to talkSPORT.
The Australian coach had been under increasing pressure during his second season at Spurs, despite many fans believing his future was secure following Europa League success.
Postecoglou led Tottenham to a historic victory over Manchester United in the Europa League final in Bilbao, securing the club’s first major trophy in 17 years.
The triumph also guaranteed Spurs a place in the Champions League.
However, that success was not enough to save his job amid a disastrous domestic campaign.
Last season, Tottenham suffered their worst Premier League finish ever, ending 17th.
They lost 22 of their 38 league games – the most defeats by any team to avoid relegation in Premier League history.
After an impressive fifth-place finish in his first year, Postecoglou’s progress was hampered by injuries to key players this season.
Yet, it was the manner of the team’s defeats that drew the most criticism.
Throughout his tenure, Postecoglou faced backlash for sticking rigidly to his attacking philosophy, even when results faltered.
Now, chairman Daniel Levy has decided it is time for a change.
