Arsenal defender William Saliba is reportedly eager to secure a “dream” transfer to Real Madrid this summer, according to a new report.
With long-term concerns over their centre-back options, Madrid are expected to make a major defensive signing in the upcoming transfer window.
Recent reports suggest that Saliba has emerged as their top target.
However, Arsenal are unwilling to part ways with the Frenchman unless Madrid submit a record-breaking bid exceeding the £80 million Manchester United paid for Harry Maguire in 2019.
According to Sky Sport Switzerland, the Gunners have set a £100million asking price for the 23-year-old.
Despite the hefty valuation, Madrid remain undeterred and are actively engaging with Saliba’s representatives to assess the feasibility of a transfer.
The French international is said to view a move to the Bernabéu as his “ultimate dream,” with the prospect of playing alongside close friend Kylian Mbappe further increasing the appeal.
However, William Saliba only recently reaffirmed his commitment to Arsenal, publicly stating just two months ago that he is enjoying life under Mikel Arteta.
Whether he would genuinely push for an exit this summer remains uncertain.
