Bournemouth value Alex Scott at around £80million and remain determined to keep hold of the midfielder this summer, according to talkSPORT.

Scott has emerged as a target for Liverpool and Manchester United following an impressive season on the south coast.

However, Bournemouth owner Bill Foley has no intention of cashing in on the 22-year-old. Scott’s current contract at the Vitality Stadium runs until 2028.

The Cherries are hopeful Scott will sign a new contract, potentially including a release clause similar to the one in Antoine Semenyo’s deal.

Semenyo signed a five-year extension last summer containing a £65million clause that was active only during the first two weeks of the January transfer window and was eventually triggered by Manchester City.

Foley is also determined not to let Scott leave for a cut-price fee, with Bournemouth mindful of the valuations attached to midfielders such as Elliot Anderson, Mateus Fernandes and Sandro Tonali.

Scott has made 80 Premier League appearances for Bournemouth, scoring four goals. His performances earned him a first England call-up in November, and he is currently with the Three Lions at their pre-World Cup training camp in Florida.

Although he missed out on Thomas Tuchel’s final 26-man squad, Scott remains highly regarded and could still be the subject of significant transfer interest before the window closes, with a reunion with Andoni Iraola at Liverpool among the possibilities.

talkSPORT’s chief football correspondent Alex Crook said: “I think he’d be a good fit. I think if you look at one of the many reasons that Liverpool couldn’t defend their title this season I think the midfield was a real issue.

“Alexis Mac Allister and Ryan Gravenberch in particular didn’t really hit the heights they did the previous campaign.

“Actually before Arne Slot’s first season they were looking to bring in a number six Liverpool and then sort of stumbled upon Gravenberch in that role by default, but it’s not really his preferred position.”

Crook added: “Alex Scott I think is a terrific talent. If we get any pull-outs from the England World Cup squad, I think he probably is next in line. Which tells you how highly Thomas Tuchel rates him.

“There’s obviously a relationship between him and Andoni Iraola, the Liverpool manager, and Richard Hughes, the sporting director at Anfield who signed him for Bournemouth.

“So this would make a lot of sense, but Bournemouth want to keep him.

“They’ve offered him a new contract, so I think he’s going to take a significant offer, but certainly this is going to be one that we’re going to track throughout the course of the window.”
