Curtis Jones has been linked with a move to Nottingham Forest after the club sanctioned the record sale of Elliot Anderson to Manchester City.
Forest have emerged as the latest side to show interest in Jones amid uncertainty surrounding his future at Anfield, with the midfielder entering the final year of his contract.
According to the Daily Mail’s Tom Collomosse, Forest are “thought to be considering” a move for Jones, who Liverpool value at a minimum of £35million.
Journalist Lewis Steele, a familiar figure to Liverpool supporters, also shared the story on X, suggesting there may be substance to Forest’s interest.
Following Anderson’s reported £116million move to Manchester City – a deal also claimed to be worth as much as £130million – Forest are expected to strengthen their midfield, making links with Jones unsurprising.
Collomosse did, however, raise doubts over whether Jones would be interested in the move.
“The one issue is whether Jones, having been a useful but never a crucial player for his boyhood team, would be keen to join what he might deem a lower-ranked club,” he wrote.
“Some players like that also struggle to adapt when they are suddenly expected to be a key man for a new team.”
Curtis Jones has largely operated as a squad player during his Liverpool career rather than an undisputed starter, a factor that could influence his desire to seek a fresh challenge this summer.
While Forest could offer the regular game time he is looking for, Brighton’s Jack Hinshelwood and Tottenham’s Lucas Bergvall are also said to be on their shortlist.
Inter Milan remain the frontrunners for Jones, but the Serie A side will need to return with an improved offer that meets Liverpool’s £35million valuation.
According to Steele, Liverpool are prepared to let the 25-year-old run down his contract if no suitable bid arrives.
