Liverpool have reportedly agreed personal terms with Paris Saint-Germain winger Ibrahim Mbaye on a five-year contract.
The 18-year-old, who is also being pursued alongside fellow PSG winger Bradley Barcola, has agreed financial terms with the Reds, according to RMC Sport’s Fabrice Hawkins.
“The two parties have agreed on the financial terms of a five-year contract.” Mbaye has made his choice and does not wish to pursue interest from Bayer Leverkusen.”
However, the agreement does not guarantee a transfer, as Liverpool still need to reach a deal with PSG. Ibrahim Mbaye has reportedly rejected interest from Bayer Leverkusen and made Liverpool his preferred destination.
The Reds will now continue negotiations with PSG over the valuations of both wingers. Mbaye is reportedly valued at up to £50m, while Barcola’s asking price is believed to be above £145m.
Neither player featured in PSG’s Trophée des Champions defeat to Lens on Sunday. Luis Enrique has also suggested the club could allow players who no longer want to remain in Paris to leave.
We are a very young, very ambitious team, Enrique said.
“It is important for us to make changes and look for players who enjoy playing our way and who love playing for PSG. That is very clear to us.
“When a player doesn’t want to come here, or doesn’t have a smile on their face about being here, it is better to find another solution.”
PSG have strengthened their attack this summer with the signings of Maghnes Akliouche, Mika Godts and Ferran Torres, potentially making it easier for the French champions to part ways with Barcola and Mbaye.
