Jeremy Jacquet has completed his move to Liverpool from Rennes after signing a long-term contract, subject to international clearance.

The Reds agreed a deal to sign the French defender earlier this year, with the transfer now set to be formally ratified in the coming days.

Jacquet arrives at Anfield after progressing through Rennes’ academy to make 33 senior appearances. Twenty-one of those came during the 2025/26 campaign before his season was cut short by a shoulder injury suffered in February.

The France Under-21 international also gained valuable first-team experience during a season-long loan spell at Clermont Foot, where he made 24 appearances.

Liverpool will confirm Jacquet’s squad number in due course.

The 20-year-old will now get his Anfield journey under way and told Liverpoolfc.com: “I feel really good, the first impressions are good and I am very happy to start here.

“I am very happy. When I see the facilities, I can see myself there. I feel good here and I am very excited to get started.

“For me it’s a big dream, it’s a big club. A club like Liverpool, it’s a big dream for me.”

Jacquet will now have the opportunity to play alongside one of his biggest inspirations.

The France Under-21 international has previously revealed that Liverpool captain Virgil van Dijk is the centre-back he has studied most throughout his development, and he is now set to share a dressing room with the Dutchman at Anfield.

Jeremy Jacquet is eager to learn from Van Dijk as he begins his Liverpool career. “If I want to go as high as possible, I must immerse myself in him,” he said.
