Liverpool continue to be linked with midfielders Alex Scott and Lamine Camara, although Bournemouth are not expected to entertain a deal for Scott during the January transfer window.

Despite the need to strengthen their midfield, Liverpool went through the summer transfer window without adding a new player in the position, with further recruitment reportedly expected to be a focus next year.

Monaco midfielder Camara was among those linked with a move to Anfield and remains an option for 2027.

However, Liverpool’s interest in Bournemouth’s Scott also remains, with BBC’s Sami Mokbel and Nizaar Kinsella reiterating the Reds’ “known” interest. Bournemouth will not consider selling Alex Scott in January.

The 23-year-old has 18 months remaining on his contract and has rejected two offers, while the Cherries have made it clear they will not welcome transfer talks until their league objectives have either been achieved or are no longer attainable.

The same stance applies to forward Rayan, who has also been linked with Liverpool.

Arsenal and Chelsea are among Scott’s other Premier League admirers, with Chelsea having a £64million bid rejected for the midfielder during the summer.

Liverpool manager Andoni Iraola also knows Scott well, having used him 89 times during his time at Bournemouth. The Spaniard is believed to have a positive relationship with his former player.

Scott was previously described as Liverpool’s “top target” for the defensive midfield position. However, he is not a specialist No. 6 and is more naturally suited to a box-to-box role.

The England international is versatile and ranked highly for several defensive metrics in the Premier League last season, but his profile is similar to players already in Liverpool’s squad.

Scott could develop into a valuable homegrown option, but new sporting director Julian Ward is likely to prioritise a midfielder whose natural position is No. 6, a role Liverpool have lacked since Fabinho left in 2023.

The Reds are known to be targeting a midfielder in future transfer windows and retain an interest in Monaco’s Lamine Camara.
